Start the Day on a Good Note

10301465323018dawn-nature-sunset-trees-large

What do you guys do first thing in the morning to start the day on a good note?

Today, I found myself clung to my phone browsing the internet and forgetting my priorities. The dangerous thing wasn’t the aimless browsing but it was embarking on the “negative” websites that one tend to find spontaneously on the web. I researched problems instead of solutions, illness instead of healing and I felt like I am not setting a good tone for the day.

How do you guys spend your first hour of waking? How should I spend my morning?

The Acquisition of Faith

leap-of-faith_724_482_80I didn’t know that this moment would be carved in my memory until today, but it is. One time my brother and I were driving home after attempting to Christmas shop at an expensive mall (South Coast Plaza, CA). The drive home was traffic-filled and we got to talking about random stuff then somehow the conversation shifted as it always does after being trapped in a car long enough with someone close to you to Life and The Big Picture.

He told that he thought that Faith was truly the greatest virtue. Heck, he said it was the greatest word. It was the vehicle to everything and through everything. It was the vehicle to God.

I never understood then that this moment would stay with me so much but here it is echoing in my brain every second in this trying time in my life.

Some people seem to be gifted with this virtue. Or maybe I just don’t know the arduous journey they had to go through to acquire it. I find myself thinking that I have faith, only to find it how little I have it when I experience trials.

I am facing a great trial right now. I NEED to have faith. I need faith. I need you guys to tell me anything that would help me. I need to learn about your life experiences and how you have the faith that you have.

I need to see God through your experiences.

Please share your thoughts and pay for me.

Musical Monday: Lana Del Rey and Other Disasters

Dear Wonderful Follower,

tumblr_n2ovctw66E1tse7q1o1_500

(I know it’s not Monday, but this post is about Musical Monday.)

So I don’t know if you noticed (you probably didn’t), but I have been neglecting posting anything in Musical Monday (which is a day dedicated to “review” a music album and introduce you to it; I promise I have a good taste in music). “Why”, you say. Well, truth of the matter is, I am a little (?) OCD and before doing those posts for you I have to listen to the whole album religiously, dissect its lyrics, read a few official reviews and a few user reviews, think about it, and then write about in a very precise and eloquent fashion, which requires a lot of time and revisions. But, I am starting to rethink this tedious  process because music is like art, it is not about what it is, it’s about what it makes you feel, or something like that! Also, I want to introduce you to many great artists and bands because I know how can music revive the soul, and inspire the mind. And isn’t just so great to find THAT one album that you listen to on repeat for months, and then years later when you hear it again, you’re suddenly struck with a vision of younger-you with all its memories, emotions, great triumphs. And really, really stupid mistakes, and at this moment you either laugh or weep.

So enough with the rambling! Next up, I am going to be featuring my home girl, Lana Del Rey, because, really, writing about Lana Del Rey is like a rite of passage to any female music blogger. Oh, did I mention she’s is totally haunting!

To give you a little sneak peak I am also going to be featuring: The 1975, their song “Chocolate” is totally addicting. And Gabriella  Alpin, London Grammar ……….. and many, many more. Stay Tuned!

P.S. I can’t believe that I reached a 1,000 (A THOUSAND) followers. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! You’re the BOMB.COM!

Love,

-Christina

P.S. Sorry for that misleading title!

Personal: Spring 2014 Bucket List

Dear Wonderful Followers,

IMG_2605

  • Here is a picture of me taking from a rather interesting angle, for those of you who are wondering, “who is this girl?!”.

So lately I have been blogging about stuff that I liked/cared about that I wanted to share with you. But as I was scrolling down I noticed that while the majority of those posts represented me, they weren’t exactly about me. And what’s the point of a blog, if its not personal (or at least personal to some extent)?! It’s never easy to be really personal, and I know you understand, but I trust you. So, I am going to share with you my Spring Bucket List. Not sure if I’m using the term Bucket List correctly here, but whatever!

I have never done a Spring Bucket List, so this is my first one. I would love for you to conduct one too and share it with me (or not!). Just because it’s nice to have something to look forward to, like Mr. McConaughey mentioned in his Oscar’s acceptance speech, even if it’s something little. So I am going to post it here and on the last day of Spring, I’ll revisit it and we can talk about it.

My Spring Bucket List

1. Pray everyday

2. Go to the gym everyday

3. Blog everyday

4. Get a Henna Tattoo

5. Get a Tattoo

6. Get a job that I enjoy

7. Connect with old friends

8. Read at least five books (I would share them with you, but I have no idea what I am going to read but I know that “Love in the Time of Cholera” will definitely make the list. Feel free to recommend me any books=])

9. Do good deeds to my family

10. Experiment with arts and crafts and create/learn five DIY projects

11. Experiment with cooking and baking (Yum!)

12. Get a haircut (or not! I still haven’t made up my mind, but I find it much easier to manage my hair when it’s shorter, since it’s so curly.)

13. Make the most of my weekends

14. Well, there is this serious issue that I am facing at the moment and I tend to put off what I’m supposed to do regarding it cause thinking about it makes me kind of anxious. So, I shouldn’t be doing that! Guys please pray for me or just wish me well (if you don’t pray). So yeah don’t forget to tell God about me in your prayers, please!

15. Stay true to myself

P.S. Notice I didn’t put a period after each task, cause they’re still “unfinished”. lol

Silvery Saturday: Son of God

Dear Wonderful Reader,

I am sorry this is up late, but I had to share this film with you.

son_of_god

I had the immense blessing to go see Son of God with my family last Saturday, and I couldn’t be any more grateful. The film has its flaws and shortcomings just like any other film, but the film’s power to move one’s spirit is far grander than such little inevitable mistakes.  In short, if you’re looking for a movie review, then you won’t find it here.

Countless scenes have touched my soul, and as I sat down watching it, I thanked God who graces us with revelations and epiphanies as we’re relishing in his worship (or in my case, watching this film).

As I was watching a scene where one of the Jew priests called Jesus a “dangerous man”, It dawned on me how goodness and holiness are truly the most powerful, sharpest weapons. In other words, the bible and the film show how the Lord is forgiving, generous, kind, loving, considerate, gentle, and merciful in all his actions on Earth. Nothing he does can be described as dangerous; or at least relate to our understanding of what’s dangerous. Yet, to those Jew priests Jesus was the ultimate danger. And that’s because his weapons were holiness and goodness; weapons that couldn’t be defeated with the most violent or advanced weapons.  Why? Because the battle of holiness and goodness has already been won, when Jesus resurrected from his death.  As Jesus said, “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). So holiness and goodness can’t be fought because there is no more fighting for them because they live with Jesus’s peace and victory; instead, they treat every experience as a chance to be the light to the world. Again, as Jesus said “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” (Matthew 5:14).

In a later scene, when Jesus was being arrested and Peter pulled a sword from a Roman solider and cut off one of the soldier’s ears, Jesus reproached him and said, “Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.” (Mathew 26:52). Again, in this verse Jesus  confirms the idea that anger, and violence won’t save anyone because their fight is a never-ending fight. Thus, whoever employs them will die fighting by the sword, as he chose to fight a battle that can never be won.

Then, the film ends with a very promising scene that brought a lot of peace to my heart.

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

(Revelation 21:4)
